Bosch ra1181 benchtop router table

Customer Buzz

This is a router table top without a full table stand, and it does not work with the Porter Cable 7518 Router. Besides that it seems to be a good table. I sent it back for a refund for a product that works with my router, and it is a complete stand alone table for my workshop.

Customer Buzz

After much research I decided on the Bosch RA1181 router table. I was able to purchase it new on Amazon for $152.00 with free shipping which was as low as I had ever seen this table. The quality of the table and fence system is as good or better than tables I looked that cost twice as much and more. Even though $180.00 is the most common price range for this table this still holds true. The pre-drilled mounting plate will accomodate mounting for many popular routers, you can check compatibility before ordering. Unfortunately, my Triton router was not one of those models but I was able to use one of the existing holes and drill the other 3 without a problem and I was ready to go. A router table is only as good as the fence system in my opinion and the fence system on the RA1180 is simply unheard of in router tables in this price range. Usually, they consist of plastic and are not what you would call "precision" devices. The fence system on this table is all about precision and it's made from strong extruded aluminum. It comes with a nice set of featherboards and a very efficient dust collection port for you to connect your shop vac to. The table top is surprisingly large when compared to other tables in this price range. Compared to some of the competition, it looks downright HUGE. When you look at the junk tables on the market that hover around the $150.00 mark, there is no doubt in my mind that this is by far the best bargain in the benchtop router table arena.

Customer Buzz

I bought this router table about a month ago and have loved everything about it. It's easy to use and the tabe top is made of top-notch material. And although my router was not listed on the list of routers that this table accepts, the infinite number of screw holes made my router fit just fine. I would recommend this table for the beginner-intermediate woodworker.

Customer Buzz

Bought this as my first router table and love it. So many really well thought out features. Accurate routes, easy to use, well made and really portable. The only downside is a really flimsy plastic plate that holds the ON/OFF switch. This should have been made much sturdier. Bosch has really come up as my favorite tool company the last few years.

Customer Buzz

This was my first router table, so without a lot of experience with other models, I visited reviews on Amazon as well as other woodworking sites to compare reviews of other brands. I found that this table had the most stable and favorable feedback from purchasers.

Assembly: I found the instructions and assembly of the table to straight forward and easy. It took about 2 hours, and I was working slowly. Adjusting the router's depth and overall table level-ness was also smooth. The table also comes with a number of smaller details that make it a well-thought-out tool- I held on to the numerous bolts included for attaching other router models should I ever need to upgrade. The plate/collars that surround the bit are a nice touch as well, but be sure to have a small flat-head screw driver handy to pry them out after use.

Operation: I use a Porter Cable router, which is one of the models that this table accomodates easily. My shop-vac was also readily compatible which was great as the table's built-in dust collection port keeps the operation clean. The fence and finger board parts of the table are easy to use and adjust smoothly. The measurements on the table's surface are helpful in aligning the fence evenly. The on-off switch is safe and well placed on the front of the table.

Bottom line: I'm satisfied with my purchase. The table meets all expectations and is well made. As a weekend warrior woodworker, this tool is usable for me, and not overwhelming with functionality that I won't use.

Customer Buzz

The Bosch Benchtop Router Table is excellent for the price. The assembly takes a little time but goes together well. It was nice that it included a couple of feather boards. I was able to have it assembled and using it (along with the Bosch RA1165 Under-Table router base, purchased seperately) within an hour. I have it temporarily clamped to a work station until I decide on making a stand or purchasing the Bosch Router Table Stand.

Customer Buzz

This is a nice table for the price. The large cast alum top is stable and the fence is easy to adjust. The table has many good solid adjustment features. I have used it on two projects and I am pleased. The one minor problem is the on/off switch. It is mounted on the front of the table and covered by a cheep plastic cover used as the off button. It projects out in front of the frame. The first time I turned the table on its face to install the router the plastic cover broke. Poor design. Otherwise its a keeper.

Customer Buzz

I recently purchased the Bosch RA1181 router table to help in completing some detail work on cabinets and shelving for my grandson. Set-up was fairly simplistic, as was inserting my old router (Craftsman) onto the router table. The holes didn't match per the instructions, but it was a simple matter to align the router with other pre-drilled holes in the table. Having a stationary router and router table makes all the difference in the world insofar as your routed edges are concerned -- no wobble or distortion at all. Just make sure you don't go too fast or too slow and you'll end up with great routed edges.

Customer Buzz

This appears to be an excellent table. Great Price. I haven't used it yet but have checked it for level and assembled it. Assembly takes a little time. Very satisfied.

Customer Buzz

I am a novice as this is my first router table. However, I spend a lot of time watching skilled people use tools. Long story short, this is not a cabinet maker's router table. If you're a REAL pro, you probably want to build one that is larger and with better work piece control attachments. But, if you are like me (father of 2 who likes to build stuff like cabinets, benches, desks, etc) then this router table is fantastic!!! The mounting plate is pre-drilled for a number of commercially available routers. The table allows for very precise cuts, the drop in plate is thick steel and easy to adjust, the fence is sturdy and easy to adjust, it comes with three inserts that allow you to use the router/table with a number of different bits and finally, the table is NOT flimsy!

I previously purchased a craftsman router table that I returned because it was flimsy and I would have needed to drill out the drop in plate for my dewalt router. This, in my opinion, would have reduced precision and greatly reduced my satisfaction. For me, you can't beat the quality for the price. IMO, this table is the only one to start with.

Enjoy!

Porter-cable 7310 5.6 amp 3/4-horsepower laminate trim router

Best Price Porter Cable 7310 For Sale. Buy Now!.

Customer Buzz
Had to replace same model that has had years of service. Does the job under commecial manufacturing enviroment.

Customer Buzz
Well, what can I say...it's small, powerful and well balanced. Too bad it has a cord attached but that what makes it go! Thought my little skil of 40 years couldn't be beat. Finally it could, bearings gave up..

Customer Buzz
If this tool is used for what it is intended, it's the best one on the market. Our cabinet shop produces $750K of comercial cabinets a year and this is the only trim router we use. We have tried the more expensive ones(and the less expensive ones) and have always come back to this one. The Bosch is close but didn't last as long. The only problem we have with them is the cords don't seem to last all year. Other than that they work all day. Right now we have about 8 of them in production that work every day. If you're looking for a router to do fine adjustments, this one is not for you. If you need a "laminate trim router", then this one will do the job.

Customer Buzz
I have 3 regular routers and this addition is excellent in that I don't need to do a set up for the small jobs. This PC router is so small and powerful that it is handheld easily while you are holding your wood in the other hand and in a matter of minutes, you're finished. Great product!

Customer Buzz
I have a special application for the PC7310 trim router. I have built a computer numerically controlled (CNC) overhead router machine. The standard spindle (router) used in this machine is the PC7310.

The PC7310 is not a large spindle as these CNC machines, even a small one like mine can use much larger routers or even professional grade spindles (costing several thousands of dollars)

The PC7310 is much more than I expected for the cost. The body up to the electrical end cap is metal. The end cap is plastic, nothing wrong with that. I had thought all the dark body may be plastic.

The single screw mounting I thought might be a limitation, but the design of my machine uses that single screw and a plate upon which the router sets. Together the router is very firmly secured.

The light weight of the PC7310 router is a very good asset for the quick moves the CNC control can produce. The 3/4 HP is three times the power of the spindle I am presently using on a smaller machine.

I have not run the router enough to determine life of the bearings in this duty, but I know there are dozens if not hundreds of other craftspeople using the PC7310 router in this configuration. I have not seen or heard any issues about short life expectancy in this kind of duty.

Only two issues with the application and not a fault of the PC7310 router is the router noise level and single speed. Otherwise the PC7310 router design is well suited for this application and is an excellent choice for the price.

Customer Buzz
After reading a few reviews here I thought I would comment on this tool myself. I am a proffesional comercial woodworker and have owned and bought for my company this router maybe 15 times over the years so I am very familiar with it. One thig that I keep seeing in the negitive column in everyones reviews is that it is not precise enough for some people, all I can say is keep in mind what this tool is inted for....this is a laminate trim router...there is nothing precise about that, infact it has always been kind of a joke in the industry that they put the fine adjustment knob on the router at all! If you are looking for a small precise genral pourpose woodworking router this is not what you want, if you are looking for a laminate trim router as the name implies this is a very good one, we do millons of dollars worth of work each year here and have found for the price this is a fine trim router.

Customer Buzz
I purchased this tool largely on the reputation of PC - and my experience with some of their other tools. I've had it for about a year or so and have used it on a number of laminate trimming projects and as a small router with regular wood bits. In use, the product works well. It has the power I would expect from a small motor and the long cord length is nice.

It's getting to the use part that I have a beef with. As mentioned in some of the other reviews, the base adjustment is poorly designed. Trying to do fine adjustments of the bit is hit and miss. There's a knurled wheel to adjust the height and a locking know. The problem is that when the locking knob is loosened enough to move the base there's way too much play in the base. Consequently, you can't really tell where the base will end up until you tighten the locking knob.

I've also had the problem where the collet won't release the bit after use until I tap the bit a few times.

Maybe I underestimate the ease of designing a motor with a switch, but that seems like something any tool company could do. It's the stuff that bolts onto the motor that makes the difference between a great tool and one that's not so great. Unfortunately, this one falls into the latter camp.

Customer Buzz
While this trimmer might be fine for quick roundovers and the like, it lacks the refinement and precision necessary for fine woodworking and production work. Careful observers will notice that the base and motor are not perfectly perpendicular to one another. There is too much slop in the height adjustment mechanism and set knob. Too, the base itself is not perfectly flat (place a sheet of 400 grit sandpaper on a flat table and run the base plate over it a few times. High and low spots will quickly become apparent.) All in all, the 7310 is very underwhelming in its quality and precision. As far as the "Rotozip" style trimmers go, the DeWalt and Bosch models offer better quality and refinement then this PC, though they, too, suffer from some of the same problems.
By far the better alternative is the tried-and-true Porter Cable 310 production router. This model has long been a favorite of professional cabinetmakers (the guys in my shop own two or three each), but it is somewhat unknown to the woodworking public at large. It is not made for mass market consumers (Home Depot/Lowes don't carry it), and PC has instead promoted the 7310 trimmer as its mainstay trim router. The 7310 trimmer, however, is but a shadow of the 310. Read some of the reviews on the 310 and you'll see what I mean. The 310 is truly a fine machine. At $100, the 7310 is not a great value. At $159, the 310 is worth every penny. Spend more now and you'll be very satisfied with the knowledge that you own the very best. More importantly, your work will show the wisdom of your choice.
Sadly, Porter Cable no longer sells the excellent offset, angle, and other optional bases for the 310. If you need these you can acquire them used or new-old-stock, but they are getting harder to find. The premium prices of these trimmers and optional bases found on Ebay attest to the loyal following the 310 has. These bases are available for the 7310, but you will still have to deal with the inferior design and quality of that trimmer. Again, go with the DeWalt or Bosch if you need a complete trim kit with all the bases. If you don't need them, get the 310 and you'll be set for life. You'll be glad you did.

Customer Buzz
I've found the height adjustment clumsy and the knurled knob to be hard to sufficiently tighten by hand (it creeps with use). The best trim router out there is their 310P production trim router.

Customer Buzz
When reading Woodworking with a router, I noticed the author stated, that after getting a standard size router, your second router should be a laminate trim router. It is so versatile. Since it is smaller than most routers, it is more manageable. Shop made jigs using a router, are best done with one of these. Since it takes the standard 1/4" bits, it makes it a convenient, multi use tool.
If you do a lot of counter top, laminate work, their combo pack, with the different bases, is the top choice. Saves a lot of money over buying the individual bases.
I looked at some overseas, and the Ryobi model, and decided to spring for the Porter Cable. The metal base, and fine adjust feature, and metal housing, set it apart. This is a professional level piece of equipment. Should give you many years of trouble free performance.
When you are doing fine work, the lightness, and ease of visibility afforded by this router, is unmatched.
If I had to be critical of it, I would say that when changing a bit, I remove the base, which isn't that hard, for easy access. The base is designed to come on and off real easy, since it is one part of a multi base system.
All in all, definitely 5 stars. The more you use it, the more it will become your favorite one.

Use this at my company. Does the job. Used this model for years.

Customer Buzz
Great little router - but...

the "case"... WHAT is with tool companies and these minimalist, throwaway case designs lately????

Is it to save on shipping?

Is there ANYBODY out there that WANTS a tool's case to be so small that you need a degree in physics just to figure out how the tool is supposed to go back in? I mean, would it kill them to just give us an extra INCH or two???

I'm so bothered by this that I have to mark the tool lower than I would have otherwise. Portability is very important to me, and this case is obviously not intended to be used by somebody who travels with the tool.

Which begs the question, what IS the case designed for?

Apparently, it's designed for somebody who doesn't mind spending five or ten minutes figuring out how to get the tool in and wrap the wire just right so it's not getting crushed and kinked, each and every time they put it away.

That's not me. I want a case I can just drop the tool into and forget about it. This case doesn't even leave enough room for the instruction pamphlet once you've opened it! There's CERTAINLY no room for a couple of bits.

I just don't get it. What's the upside of making a case so small? Especially when just a LITTLE more room would make so much of a difference?

And as if the case's small size weren't enough, the overall case design - handle on the top half with that cheesy snap latch on the side - if that little plastic latch ever gives way, you're router's hitting the floor hard, no two ways about it. You can't help but worry about it every time you pick up. At least give us TWO cheesy plastic snaps!

I broke down and bought a separate case for my router and bits. If you travel with your tools, you will too - so factor that into the cost. (and join me in my frustration, wondering why a company like porter cable can't spend the dollar or two that it would take to turn the case into a useful accessory instead of the fancy shipping container that it is!!!)

Customer Buzz
I like most everything about the router performace, weight, ease of use, except the location of the "on-off" switch. I'm not a pro using it every day, so maybe I'm not used to not have a trigger switch like my old Black & Decker. I'd buy this one again even with my one complaint!

Customer Buzz
Already owning a Bosch plunge router, I wanted a lighter weight router as a companion for my Leigh dovetailing jig. After considerable research, I decided the Porter Cable 9690 would be my choice. I couldn't be more pleased with the performance of this machine. Good balance, light weight, and easy to adjust bit depth. Having read all the comments about the location of the on/off switch, and how disconcerting start-up is, I expected worse. I found start-up torque to be managable, even though I'm used to the soft start of my Bosch. All-in-all, the 9690 is an excellent router for the money.

Customer Buzz
I got this for use with a dovetail template system. It is a no nonsense router. Plenty of power for hand held applications. I only use small bits, so the fixed speed isn't really a drawback. I currently have a Bosch 1617 with plunge and fixed bases. This seems comparable quality.

Porter-cable fr350 round head framing nailer kit

Best Price Porter Cable FR350. Free Shipping. Buy Now!.

Customer Buzz
Initially I was looking for a Hitachi nailer, but a Christmas combo special for Porter Cable compressor, nailer and hose was too good to pass on (and I needed it soon). That was three years ago. I had been waiting and waiting for this nailer to die and give me an excuse to get the Hitachi, but yet it lives...

This nailer has been an unexpected surprise; I probably get less than one jamb per 4000 nails. I've run over 20,000 3-1/2" and 6,000 2-12" nails without a problem.

A little heavy but well balanced. Fit and finish is good. The nail guide on the top of the magazine jammed the first couple of strips I use, but was pretty useless to begin with anyways.

The main thing is it has been very reliable and durable. May have to get another Porter Cable if and when this one dies....

Customer Buzz
This nailer has worked perfect from day one straight out of the case. I used it to frame in my son-in-laws basement which we were remodeling and he loved it too. I have never had a nail jam and the finish is top grade. I was already a porter cable power tool fan ( routers, etc ) and have the framing nailer along with the 15 guage finish nailer and the BN200 18 guage brad nailer. The brad nailer finally died about a week ago and I have a new BN200A to replace it on the way. My father was a carpenter for almost 30 years and I grew up around all kind of tools. He taught us to buy the best we could afford in a tool and I couldn't buy better at any price in my opinion.I became pretty picky and Believe me if there was anything I could find wrong with this tool I would post it.

Customer Buzz
I have a house under construction and I spend a lot of time working along side my contractor on various projects. We both own this nailer, and run them both simultaneously from a single Porter Cable Job Boss compressor. I've enjoyed the nailer enough that I have since bought an additional three Porter Cable nailers in various sizes and a pancake compressor. I also bought another Job Boss compressor as a gift for a carpenter who has been helping us on the house, and he was thrilled. The compressor has a detachable control head so you can take the regulator and connection points with you onto a scaffold or into the house, and leave the compressor behind.

The nailers are dependable, well built, and easy to use. Loading the framer is fast and straightforward. The one criticism I would have of the FR350 is that changing from trigger-actuated to contact-actuated firing is a two handed operation that normally necessitates removing my work gloves. I understand the additional safety that provides, but I think there must be other ways to handle the switching without compromising safety.

I would recommend not only the FR350, but Porter Cable in general for any homeowner who wants to have professional grade tools at a reasonable price.

Customer Buzz
You get a lot of bang for your buck with this nailer. I've shot a few cases of nails with it over the last couple of years, and it's only jammed a couple of times (off-label nails). Other than that, it's a workhorse and an excellent value.

Customer Buzz
Based upon my excellent experience with a Porter Cable finish nailer / compressor combo, I obtained the Porter Cable FR350 framing nailer. I am in the midst of building a 24x30 workshop on our property. Have completed the framing and the tool has never missed a beat - not a jam, misfire, or quirk. Easy to end nail or toe nail.
If you have a need or want for a framing nailer - this unit works great.

Customer Buzz
I recently bought this nailer to build my deck. After 3 hours of struggle ... I gave up. I finished up the work hand nailing. Later a friend who also happen to have the same nailer, claimed that this nailer is the best in the market, came over to check it out. But it is what it is: a lemon ... 'may be'.
Next day I returned the nailer.

Customer Buzz
Last winter I decided to take on the job of finishing my basement. I am happy to say that the basement is almost finished and the reason is this nailer. I used it to turn my basement into 5 rooms and it performed flawlessly. I bought a box of 4000 nails and used well over half of them without a single jamb.
Some of the reviews talk about the nailer double shooting. That was not a problem for me. The nailer has two settings on the trigger, one for single shots and one for multi shots. I simple set the trigger to single shoot nails.
The nailer was comfortable, easy to aim, and problem free.
One of the few things left to do is install the moulding for which I am going to buy a Porter Cable finish nailer. In my opinion they make a quality product and sell it for a reasonable price.

Customer Buzz
I've used this nailer for over two years now on a whole house remodel (including 6000 ring shanks on cement fiber siding) and I've been very satisfied with it's performance. By this gun and you will find yourself adding additional guns (brad, finish, etc) to you collection.

Customer Buzz
A lot of the reviewers have complained about the trigger and how hard it is to avoid double shooting. I just got the latest version of this great tool and was very happy to see it comes with a multi-mode trigger factory installed--a simple twist of the selector button lets you choose single shot mode or full auto rock&roll. Mine came with the trigger set on single-shot and that's how I've been using it--works great, no problems. PC still offers the single shot only trigger for free on request, but as well as the factory installed trigger is working I don't see any need to get the other trigger.

Customer Buzz
Good gun. I needed a full head nailor for some jobs and got this one. It does it's job very well - that is shoot nails. I have not had a jam yet, but if I ever do, it should be easy to clear. The depth adjustment works well. It is a powerful gun - sinks even the longest nails fully. It is fairly light weight, although not as light as my clip-head gun. Recoil and noise are fairly intense or I would have given this a 5 star rating. For shooting full-head nails, this is a good one.
